This is a new installment for The Moustache Aficionado called 'Mo' Music', celebrating the most mustachioed music videos of all time. This week, guest contributor Matt Chernos shares his perspective on one of my favorite 80's videos of all time - PATT.
Eddie Murphy is a man of incredible talents and
accomplishments. When not performing the entire Klump family in The Nutty
Professor (as a tribute to mustachioed great Peter Sellers), Eddie has
become the second highest grossing actor in the USA, performed for 4 years on
Saturday Night Live, recorded with Michael Jackson (do
yourself a favor and click that link), played the Donkey in Shrek, got Scary
Spice pregnant, “emptied
his wallet to help” down-and-out transvestite prostitutes, recorded 5 (!)
albums which contained such timeless classics songs as “Put Your Mouth on
It” and “ Boogie In Your Butt”, and has been sporting a
kick ass moustache since before Saddam
made headlines.

But, really, has there been a more ridiculous underrated
moment in Eddie Murphy career than his "hit" song "Party All the Time"?
Written by Rick James (the dude with the huge hair in the studio), the song peaked at #2 (!!!) on the Billboard Top 100. Pay particular attention to his face at 2:50.
Wikipedia has some kind of sense of humor with an eloquently written "synopsis" of the song.
Her absence is believed to be caused by infidelity, presumably with one or many of the men with whom she became acquainted earlier that evening. The narrator then goes on to wish that his female companion would have sexual intercourse with him, instead of the many other men with whom she has been copulating.
Do yourself another favor and read the entire synopsis.
The song has since been covered by Finnish metalheads Child Of Bodom. Folks, you can't make this stuff up.
With an impressive resume like this, you have got to think all that's left for Mr. Murphy is to become a real Doctor and head back to school like Shaq.
